Aberdeen Chorus of Sweet Adelines
A Cappella Singing in Aberdeen, Scotland
The Aberdeen Chorus regularly recruits new members and any woman over the age of 14 who might be interested in joining is welcome to join us at one of our rehearsals to see what we do.
The first step in joining the Aberdeen Chorus is for you to come along to one of our rehearsals to see what we do. If you like what you hear and want to join, then we will ask you to sing a quick song (usually Happy Birthday) for the Musical Director, so that she can decide which part you would be best suited to sing.
You will then be given access to our online system where you will be able to download mp3 tracks of the two audition songs along with the sheet music, which you can practise for between three and six weeks. During this time when you come to chorus there will always be other members willing to take you aside and sing with you until you have your audition. For the audition you will sing with some members of the Music Team.
If you don’t pass first time you can try again the following week. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and not nearly as difficult as it sounds! Lots of help will be available.
Membership of the Chorus
Members of the Aberdeen Chorus attend rehearsals each Monday night throughout the year where, in addition to learning songs for performances there is teaching of good singing technique and performance skills.
External coaches (often top barbershop coaches from around the world) are brought in regularly to supplement the skills of the in-house Music Staff and these sessions are normally included in the monthly fees.
Sheet music, audio tracks for learning and most costume items are also provided within the normal monthly fees.
